Born and raised in the Midwest, Bruce earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Missouri, Columbia. His career as a nonprofit executive director spanned 34 years, beginning with a Kansas City founded organization, Open Options, Inc. from 1980-1997, then serving as CEO of UCP of Greater Kansas City, the United Cerebral Palsy affiliate until 2013.
Creating and sustaining community support services for people with disabilities requires organizational skills, the ability to connect to many people, and a vision and commitment to quality of life for everyone. Bruce brings that commitment as well as a belief in the power of community organizations and their leaders to his coaching and consulting clients. Bruce has served on multiple nonprofit boards including Nonprofit Connect, Kansas City, Missouri.
Since launching Space to Focus Coaching and Consulting Bruce has provided services to over 50 organizations. His original vision for the business - Making a difference in the lives of people "on a mission" - has been fulfilled in new ways every year.
